In my opinion, the top indicator to look for is something called the hoodia CITES certificate displayed on the website of the hoodia vendor.

You see, hoodia gordonii is an extremely rare plant that is tough to grow and takes a long time to mature.

In addition, South Africa is the only place in the world where it grows natively.

Because the demand for hoodia products are much higher than the supply of real hoodia gordonii, a lot of products on the market don't even contain the real stuff -- in short, they are fraudulent.
