  ( Tiny chip on Bottom of One Portal Base - which would be buried after mounting to train layout)

This Portal is based on standard prototype practice-- modified to give the added clearance required for installation on the sharper-than-prototype curves which are normally found on HO layouts. This departure from the older prototype dimansions follows the current railroad practice of allowing increased clearances to accommodate the new larger cars & tri-level automobile racks.  In addition, the increase is so subtle that it is not noticeable after installation.
