HMS Intrepid [L11]

Engine Room Gauge

This gauge was being used in the engine rooms.

The gauge measures rev/min.

The ship was decomissioned in 1999 and this item has nor been used since.

 

A BRIEF HISTORY

After being commissioned for 15 years HMS Intrepid [L11] was undergoing decommissioning in 1982 during the outbreak of the Falklands War, however she was brought back into commission to take part in the amphibious landings at San Carlos in which her efforts were commended by Margaret Thatcher and Sandy Woodward. HMS Intrepid played a hugh part in the landings, her job was to be the last ship to arrive, the last piece in the jigsaw, and all the timings depended on her. She was later placed in reserve in 1991 until 2007 where the MOD annouced that HMS Intrepid was to be recycled at a British facility. Leavesley International was selected as the prefered bidder.
