This auction is for the highest quality grit / oyster shell for use with poultry, chickens and chicks. This product is for if you feed your chickens anything other than layers / breeders pellets. Without Grit / oyster shells chickens find it hard to digest food and may produce eggs with soft shells. If you feed your chickens kitchen waste, corn or anything else you also need to make grit available for them. They don't eat a great deal of it but it needs to be available for them. We purchase it in very large bulk, use some for our own chickens and sell some on ebay and to other local poultry keepers.

You may have a few questions, especially if you are new to keeping chickens. Below are a few frequently asked questions but please feel free to ask anything and we will try our best to answer you. 

If I feed my chickens your pellets do I also need to feed them Grit / Oyster shells?

The pellets have just the right amount of grit built into them so No you don't need to feed them grit. If you are giving them other feed, wheat, or kitchen scraps you will need to make grit available to them also.

If I feed my chickens your pellets do I need to give them any other food?

Our pellets have everything a chicken needs to survive other than fresh water. So you don't have to feed them anything else. Personally we feed our chickens food scraps and wheat also. More to give them variety than through the needs of the chickens. If you do the same then you need to give them grit also.

How long before I get my grit after the auction?

Generally we aim to post them the following working day but sometimes depending upon what we have on it can be 2 to 3 days. Delivery is via royal mail 2nd class, which is generally 1 -3 working days from posting. If you purchase more than 1 item we may send them via standard parcels or courior. Delivery on these is slightly different but you should have them within the week.
