I have been looking at your speakers and reading the useful
information you provided. I have a couple of questions regarding the
£750.00 high end speakers.

1. I recently listened to the Wilson Benesch
Square 2 speakers and thought they were superb. How do these speakers
compare in your opinion and with other pricier floor standers?

2. Do they work well when placed next to a wall?

3. My current set up consists of a
pre amp (stello dp200) and a power amp (Conrad Johnson Sonographe)and a
Alchemist Forsetti CD transport. Would the speakers work well in this type
of set up? The reason I ask is because you make valve amplifiers for which
the speakers may be tailored.

I am very impressed with your knowledge

In terms of appearance ..........

Wilson Benesch describe their black finish as 'Piano finish'.
However, WIlson Benesch simply describe their wood veneer finish as 'gloss'
Please ask Wilson Benesch if their 'stain cherry gloss' is or isn't expensive 'piano finish'

Many people will agree that Chamfering / Chopping off the sides and top of the cabinet
makes our cabinet look much more interesting than
GBP £2200 Wilson Benesch 'standard shaped' rectangular box,
that look like most other speakers, that sells for half the price.

The Chinese design of chamfering / Chopping off the sides , and top of the cabinet
is probably the most practical way to improve the dispersion of sound,
as recommended by the famous Mr Harry F Olson, about 50 years ago !
( To be effective, you must chamfer / chop off A LOT of the sides / top)
(Chamfering / Chopping off 10 millimetres has limited effect, on dispersion of sound.)

This Chinese technic (as recommended by famous Mr Harry F Olson)
is much better than some manufacturer,
mounting a speaker in a spherical shape, above a FLAT REFLECTIVE surface !

In terms of quality of sound .........

Wilson Benesch Square 2 has a 1 inch tweeter + 7 inch speaker + an ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator),

ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator)  is a speaker WITHOUT a magnet , WITHOUT a motor.

Think of ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator)
as a VERY HEAVY (so difficult to control) version
of the 'typical' tunnel (Bass Reflex port) found in many speakers.

So, in terms of power handling, Wilson Benesch is like a 7 inch speaker
with a BIG diameter tunnel / bass reflex port
(and not the tiny 1 inch diameter tunnel / bass reflex port, found in many speakers)

ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator) cannot produce big magic,
and Wilson Benesch specification show that their GBP £2200 Square 2
can only go down to about 50 Hertz or 60 Hertz.
A 'Concert Grand' Piano can down down to about 30 Hertz.
More than an Octave of music will be missing.
One Octave of music is HUGE.
One Octave is 12 keys of a piano, that has 88 keys
It is like buying a piano, with 12 keys missing !
A human being might be able to hear down to 20 Hertz.

    (like the 30 years to 40 years old Kef Cadenza or Kef 104aB (different to the 'coupled cavity' version))
    and need to be MUCH MUCH HEAVIER than the moving cone / parts of the 'main' speaker
    to get a low resonance frequency,
    in a smallish cabinet (smaller than a fridge)
    because of the 'springiness' of the air.

    So, you have a VERY HEAVY ABR WITHOUT A MAGNET , WITHOUT A MOTOR
    to start AND STOP AND CONTROL the movement of the ABR.

    So, once the vibration from the 'main' speaker (with a magnet)
    move the HEAVY ABR,
    the HEAVY ABR carry on moving and moving and moving ........
    BECAUSE THERE ISN'T A MAGNET / MOTOR TO STOP / CONTROL THE HEAVY ABR.

    Can the 'main' speaker 'control' the ABR ?    Unfortunately, the answer is , rather badly !
    Imagine a SMALL car with a SMALL engine
    towing a BIG HEAVY caravan
    using an ELASTIC ROPE (like the springy air in the cabinet)

     The acceleration of the car + HEAVY caravan will be lousy.
     The 'emergency' braking of the car + HEAVY caravan will be lousy.

     So, the HEAVY ABR has very poor transient response,
     and CANNOT start nor stop QUICKLY.

     Our 2 pieces of 'high end' 8 inch speaker with HUGE HUGE HUGE expensive magnets
     with LIGHTWEIGHT AIR in the bass reflex port
      will start + stop 100 times faster than HEAVY AB,
      and produce bass that is 20 times to 100 times (depending on how fussy you are) better ,
      faster start / stop bass than any HEAVY ABR.

      HEAVY ABR produces a lot of boomy rumbling bass,
       that might impress some inexperienced Hi Fi magazine reviewer
       or Hi Fi enthusiast do NOT own SERIOUS , WELL DESIGNED (that need not be insanely expensive) BIG (the size of a fridge) speakers.

However, many Audiophile used to SERIOUS , WELL DESIGNED (that need not be insanely expensive) BIG (the size of a fridge) speakers,

That is why KEF + Celestion (Celestion Ditton 66 has 12 inch ABR) and most major speaker manufacturer
has STOPPED using HEAVY ABR.

WHAT ABOUT HUMAN VOICES ?

HUGE 22 inch Kick Bass drum and HUGE 32 inch Kettle drum will
easily overload 1 piece of 7 inch speaker.

Once the HUGE 22 inch or 32 inch drum has overload the 7 inch speaker,
human voice will become blur , congested (as though the singer got a bad cold and a 'blocked up' nose)

Sit 10 feet from the 7 inch speaker, in a 20 feet room,
turn the volume louder, and the 'blocked up nose' problem gets so bad that
you will have trouble understanding the lyric of the song.
At this stage, you might as well turn if your Hi Fi set, and watch television,.
