SOW SEEDS THINLY 1 CM (1/2 IN ) DEEP IN DRILLS CA  28 CM (9IN) APART. MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS PLENTY OF MANURE AND THE SOIL IS RAKED TO A FINE TILTH, TO GIVE YOUR CABBAGE THE BEST START POSSIBLE. SOWING TIME IS CA FEBRUARY TO JUNE, BUT YOU CAN OBVIOUSLY START EARLIER UNDER GLASS OR IN A POLYTUNNEL

WHEN LARGE ENOUGH, THIN SEEDLINGS TO 30 - 38 CM (12 - 15 IN)  APART. 

PEST PREVENTION

A CARDBOARD COLLAR FOR EACH OF THE CABBAGES IS A GOOD AND CHEAP OPTION IN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE DREADED CABBAGE ROOT FLY.

I ALSO TEND TO USE A COUPLE OF SAUCERS FILLED WITH BEER AND SOME SEASHELLS  SCATTERED ON THE  CARDBOARD COLLARS TO KEEP THE SLUGS AT BAY.

THESE METHODS HAVE IN THE PAST HELPED MYSELF AND YOU CAN ALWAYS GIVE IT A TRY
