The Hog Cabin is hand-made in England by the seller (a craftsman with a degree in design) in accordance with the Hedgehog Preservation Society guidelines. It is a unique design and only available for sale here on ebay at present.

Each cabin is made from solid European timber and screwed together for maximum strength and durability. The base and exterior are treated with a wildlife friendly preservative to ensure it will last for many years. The unique shiplap design is an eco-friendly waterproofing solution which removes the need for a plastic or bitumen liner.

The entrance tunnel prevents predators (cats, dogs, foxes & badgers) from reaching inside. The removable roof is secured with 2 wing-nuts for easy removal without the need for tools.

It is suitable for winter hibernation, and may also be used by mother hog to rear her young.

Hedgehogs hibernate from November onwards depending on the weather (they hibernate later if it stays mild) so now is the ideal time to get your Hog Cabin for this winter.

Comes with an information sheet about hedgehog care and how to use your Hog Cabin.

The story of the Hog Cabin
I made the first Hog Cabin (Mk I) in autumn 2008 after moving to a new house which had a hedgehog that visited the garden most evenings. We were delighted when the resident hog then spent a cosy winter in the cabin. I have since made a few cabins for family and friends, refining the design along the way. I have only recently begun selling the hog cabin on ebay and am also working on a range of unique homes for bats, bees and other little critters. I love wildlife and aim to produce functional and nice looking homes for them using materials that are as kind as possible to the environment.
