This doll is from Kazakhstan - formerly part of Russia until it became independent in 1991.  The doll was bought in 2005.

Wooden cylindrical body with added wooden arms and painted features.

She is wearing a full-length white silky dress with three frills around the bottom and over this is a navy blue velvet hip-length coat decorated with very shiny gold braid and it has gold filigree buttons.  She has a conical-shaped red velvet hat with a flap falling down the back to just below her shoulders.  The hat is highly decorative with gold braid and fringing and it is finished off with a wide fur band and a spray of feathers on the top.

APPROXIMATE SIZE:  8" high.

MAKERS MARKS:  None. 

CONDITION:  Excellent condition.
