This is a copy of Punch cartoonist H. M. Bateman's illustrated autobiography, published in London in 1937. Folio. Binding VG, dustjacket poorly repaired with scotch tape. Contents near fine. From the net: H. M. Bateman (1887-1970) was born in Australia and brought to England as a baby. During his most prolific years he drew for most of the quality periodicals. Through line and tone he was able to convey the full range of human emotion to maximum comic effect. Frustrated by ill health from army service in the first World War he contributed by raising the spirits of officers and men alike through his inspirational drawings.
