With every shop listing, insurance against loss or damage in the post is provided. At least two options are therefore available to buyers. (One with insurance and one without insurance) THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
If you choose to use 1st Class Post or Standard Parcel services without insurance, any claims against Royal Mail in respect of items lost, delayed or damaged in the post, it will be YOUR responsibility to claim for compensation. I retain records of all items despatched, despatch dates, etc, and I always obtain receipts for postage. I will be happy to provide copies on request. I can also send you the appropriate Royal Mail claim form on request.
N.B. Royal Mail do NOT consider items to be lost in the post, until 15 WORKING days have elapsed from the time of posting. Royal Mail will therefore NOT entertain any claims until this time has elapsed.
Insured items are traceable in transit and are therefore much less likely to be lost in the post.
For larger / heavier items, Parcelforce 48 provides a TRACEABLE service. Using this service, the movement of YOUR item(s) is TRACKED and it is INSURED against DAMAGE or LOSS. (For more expensive items, additional insurance may be required)
In the interests of keeping your costs low, you may choose to have your item sent by Royal Mail 1st Class Post or by Standard Parcel service. Although these postal services may cost less, items are not normally covered against loss or damage in transit. If requested, enhanced compensation can be purchased. However, an additional premium will be required.
