About Guild
Guild's signature excellence in acoustic flat-top guitar design has made its name synonymous with fine quality and craftsmanship.
From three models introduced in 1954—the F-30 Aragon, F-40 Valencia and F-50 Navarre—Guild founded an acoustic empire. The famous D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee and D-50 Bluegrass Special dreadnoughts were introduced in 1963 (at the insistence of Guild veteran Mark Dronge, Al's son), and Guild's flagship dreadnought, the D-55, first appeared in 1968. These guitars and many other Guild six- and 12-string acoustic flat-tops enjoyed widespread use and acclaim from artists and amateurs alike well into the ensuing decades.

Guild Acoustic Design (GAD) series guitars were designed to be the right tools when your job is to express yourself. Experience the legendary sound of Guild at a more affordable price than ever before, and get the instrument that will help you craft the perfect performance.
Guild’s jumbo-body GAD-JF48E acoustic/electric model features all of the balance and projection you'd expect from a full bodied jumbo with sweet mids, crisp bottom end and a nice bright presence thanks to the solid tone woods. This has to be our absolute favourite guitar in the GAD range - it sustains FOREVER with a crystal clear bell-like quality.
The guitar is constructed from Solid tone woods - Solid Sitka Spruce being utilised for the sound board with solid Mahogany on the backs and sides of the instrument.
In addition to the main body of the guitar, the fretboard and bridge are made from Indian Rosewood. The neck of the guitar is mahogany and plays straight and true with the Rosewood fingerboard being smooth to play.
Other appointments of note are a bone nut and compensated saddle aiding resonance and intonation. Wood bindings around the body of the guitar which look particularly classy along with pearl inlays. Tuners are excellent quality Grovers.
The guitar has an undersaddle pick up fitted which is an excellent Fishman® Acoustic Matrix Natural 1 with endpin jack. There are no on-board controls. The Matrix Natural 1 has excellent bass response and will bring out the clear tones of the instrument with style. The pick up system has no pre-amp and has a good volume on it's own straight into a PA. Perfect for smaller/medium acoustic gigs. For very large gigs/venues you may need to look at pre-amp options.
A great spec, a lovely player and an excellent price point for all these features. It must be a Guild!

The end result is the GAD Series - all 100% solid wood construction, no laminate backs or sides in sight! - fishman matrix 1 under saddle pick ups on selected models, hard cases with every guitar...and most importantly that rich Guild sound with every single instrument. All at very very competitive prices given the specifications.
They are made in China obviously drawing syngergy under the Fender Corportation umbrella, and are built to such a high standard - they throw out the rule book of what to expect from a far eastern guitar!!
