Govinder’s own words:

“You can see this painting three ways. Firstly, and quite obviously, just as five tall cats. Secondly, if you let your eye follow the diagonal line, they are intended to be sitting on the slope of a roof, each cat diminishing in size. Finally, following the top line, they appear as small cats sitting in a row on top of a wall with a diagonal shadow falling over it.”
