Gold Plated Elgin Pocket Watch w/ 8 Sided case c1916

This watch was made by the Elgin Watch Co, USA circa 1916

The watch is working and ticking away nicely keeping reasonable time however the watch has NOT been cleaned and serviced and therefore is sold “as is”

Movement – the ¾ plate, 7 Jewel, nickel movement is decorated with damascening and has a lever escapement. The movement is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA”  19444096. The movement is in 80% mint condition – some little marks here and there

Case – the movement comes in an Elgin gold plated open face case, which has a snap on back and bezel. The 8 sided case has a cabuchon set winder and the case is decorated with engine turning on the back. The case is in 75% mint condition – at first glance a very nice case but under close inspection you can see that on every point and corner metal is coming through the gold plate

Dial – the white enamel dial is signed “Elgin” and is in 85% mint condition – under close inspection there are a few hairlines around the dial

The watch measures 43mm wide x 9mm deep

The watch is stem wound / stem set

The watch has a plastic glass
