Georgian Style Mahogany Bureau Bookcase / Desk
This Georgian style bureau bookcase is a fabulous quality piece of furniture, and it will make a splendid addition to any room, office, or study.
It cost over £4000 when purchased new, so our buy it now price of only £850 provides a great opportunity to purchase a superbly crafted piece of furniture for a very reasonable price.
It's framework is made from beautifully grained solid mahogany with the exception of the back panels and the oak drawer linings, and the sides of the base are mahogany veneered on solid mahogany.
The bookcase section is crowned with a flared cornice, and the nicely moulded glazed doors lead to a well sized interior which is fitted with 3 height adjustable shelves, while the brass beading which is fitted to the right hand door gives a real indication to the build quality of this piece.
The fall leads to a superbly fitted polished mahogany interior which consists of 9 birds eye maple fronted drawers and 4 pigeon holes which are all finished with a decoratively shaped birds eye maple frieze.
Substantial pull out support arms are situated beneath the fall, and the 2 over 3 graduating drawers are finished with intricately cockbeaded edges. All of the drawers are dovetailed, and the internal ones are fitted with small brass knobs, while the main drawers are fitted with brass escutcheons and brass handles.
7 excellent quality 4 lever secure S.C.S working brass locks with individual keys safeguard the contents of this piece, and shaped bracket feet provide perfect support.
The bookcase section lifts off the base to enable both parts to be transported and manoeuvred more easily.
The condition is very good, with only minor marks of use to mention, including some light surface scratches on the outside of the fall.
The height measures 87 3/4 inches.
The width measures 38 1/4 inches.
The depth measures 21 3/4 inches.
The height to the fall measures 30 1/2 inches.
The height to the top of the bureau measures 43 inches.
The depth of the shelves measures 10 inches each.

This item cannot be posted as it is too large and fragile. We carry out all deliveries in person, and each item of furniture is fully insured from the time of it's purchase to the time of it's delivery.
We deliver to most parts of mainland UK, but we advise that you request a quote for delivery before placing a bid or making a purchase so you are fully aware of the cost. We will combine multiple purchases to reduce delivery costs, and small items will go free with larger items.
We do not allow cash on delivery sorry.
Customers are welcome to collect, but by appointment only as we run an unmanned warehouse.
