Georgian Style Flame Mahogany Bureau / Desk
This excellent quality Georgian style bureau is a fantastic looking piece of furniture, and it would make a great addition to any office or study.
The flame mahogany veneers are a hugely appealing feature of this bureau, and the grain stands out beautifully.
The flame mahogany top is finished with ebonised inlay and crossbanded borders, as is the fall which is further highlighted with a decorative brass replacement escutcheon, while the superbly presented polished mahogany interior is fitted with six pigeon holes and two curved drawers which are fashioned to look as though there are six. The centre of the interior has a fabulous pull out flame mahogany drawer which is sectioned inside, and it's fronted with a lions mask brass ring handle and a pair of wonderfully detailed gilt columns.
The reverse side of the fall is lined with a gold tooled red leather insert which provides a rather pleasant writing surface, and it rests upon two pull out support arms, while a working lock with key safeguards the contents of the bureau.
The four beautifully presented flame mahogany and mahogany lined dovetailed drawers are finished with intricately cockbeaded edges, and each one is fitted with a pair of brilliantly detailed brass handles which really do emphasise the quality of this piece.
The well finished sides lead to a quartet of ogee
bracket feet which provide a most pleasing form of support, and they further heighten the charm and appeal of this outstanding bureau.
The condition is good, with only minor marks of use to mention, including some light scratches to the top. The leather insert has some marks of use, however this helps to give it a nice antique look.
The height measures 38 3/4 inches.
The width measures 32 1/4 inches.
The depth measures 18 1/2 inches.
The height to the fall measures 29 1/2 inches.

This item cannot be posted as it is too large and fragile. We carry out all deliveries in person, and each item of furniture is fully insured from the time of it's purchase to the time of it's delivery.
We deliver to most parts of mainland UK, but we advise that you request a quote for delivery before placing a bid or making a purchase so you are fully aware of the cost. We will combine multiple purchases to reduce delivery costs, and small items will go free with larger items.
We do not allow cash on delivery sorry.
Customers are welcome to collect, but by appointment only as we run an unmanned warehouse.
