A most beautiful Georgian silver chamberstick complete with snuffer and removable sconce, made by the important maker, Philip Rundell and hallmarked in London in 1821.

The saucer shaped base has a gadrooned rim as does the sconce. The C-shaped handle with thumbpiece  also carries the conical snuffer.   The hallmarks on the base consist of the lion passant for sterling silver, crowned leopard's head for London, date letter f for 1821/22 and the George III head duty mark. The maker's mark is PR for Philip Rundell (Grimwade 2228a, mark entered May 1819).  The sconce is marked with the lion  and date letter. The snuffer is marked with rubbed  lion passant, date letter and duty mark. (It is probably a replacement as the gadrooned rim round its base is of a different design to that on the sconce and main base).

There is a monogram both on the saucer and on the sconce of script HI.

Weight is 12.37 oz (350.8 grams) and the size is 3.4 inches tall x 5.5 inches in diameter.

Condition is excellent.
