Georgian Mahogany Bureau ca 1780.

it is a beautiful full colour,raised on bracket feet.The hinged fall opens to reveal a nice fitted interior,the fall locks with orignal key,the handles and escutchions are later replacements (maybe Victorian).there are four drawers under the fall stepping up in size to floor,inside there are four small drawers and two large drawers,with eight pigeon holes and a small door.All the drawers run well and have hand made dovetail joints.size is 41.5 H x 40.5 W x21.5 D inches

The Bureau has some slight damage, a water mark on veneer on the top which has slightly lifted the veneer,there are are few minor repairs here and there which have been done by a craftsman,but you have to remember this is coming up to nearly 250 years old.(picture 6)

I have had a cabinet maker look over it and he assures me there is no sign of worm nor has there ever been,all joints etc are in good order,but he did say there is a sign of a small spilt in side panel which is caused by shrinkage/central heating .
