Genuine Canon Anti fog Eyecup Eg EOS 1D 1Ds Mark III 3

Hi,

I am selling two spare genuine Canon Anti-fog Eyepieces / Eye Cups.
These are brand new and have not been opened or used.

I am selling them way lower than retail price and a lot lower than any other sellers here
to make a quick sale.

The EG type cups are meant for ONLY the Canon 1D Mark III 3 and the Canon 1Ds Mark III 3
This cup will not work for the older Canon 1D & 1Ds Mark I and Mark II

I have kept one to use myself and it works GREAT!
If you want to know the basic gist of these eyepieces, they work great in several ways.
If you go to moist / wetter environments, places that are colder, anywhere that is more humid, or in between hot and cold places, then this eye piece is for you.  It has a special layer that prevents fog and also prevents moisture from entering the eye piece area.

This type of eyecup or eye piece is not only great for this anti-fog feature, but it also adds another extra layer of protection
from damage, dust, moisture, oils, scratches, etc. over the original viewfinder (so the camera's own viewfinder is safe).
This is because it has a built in glass/coated layer that goes over and seals over the cameras own viewfinder glass.
Whereas, the regular Canon Eg eyecup only is rubber/plastic that goes around the camera's own viewfinder / viewing glass rather than encapsulate it and sealing/protecting it.

One additional thing that I noticed is that with zoom lenses, this eyecup prevents lens air push and suck so zooming &
un-zooming a lens does not make air and dust swish in and out of the camera and into your eye.

Because I have kept one for my own use, I have attached images of what the eye cup looks like on the camera
and what the contents look like from the box.
However, remember that you will get one of the two new and unused ones.

The Canon Eg Anti-Fog Eyepiece fits the EOS-1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III cameras and uses specially treated advanced-process glass which prevents condensation or fogging. It is designed for use in warm and humid or cold weather, when fogging is most likely to occur.

The eyepiece for EOS which prevents the occurrence “of cloudiness of the finder”. Coating it did on the surface of the glass, the thin film of the special water absorption polymer absorbs the moisture quickly, prevents the occurrence of cloudiness. In winter sport and photographing etc of nature photo.

In cold or humid weather the Anti-Fog Eyepiece Eg accessory attaches easily to reduce condensation and help you maintain a clear view of your subject.

When warm air touches cold glass, moisture in the air is condensed. Camera and binocular finders are no exception. In photographing at a cold place of ski or skate, the breathing of a cameraman or moisture transpired from his/her eyes dims the finder.

For this reason, you cannot concentrate your attention on photographing or miss a decisive moment, and it was a troublesome problem for professional cameramen who are required to perform accurate photographing all the time. The anti-fogging eyepiece was developed to solve such problems. Subsequently, eyepieces for binoculars were also marketed and are demonstrating their effectiveness for bird watching, astronomical observation and other activities.

As the conventional anti-fogging technique, methods of drying with a hot-wire heater and of coating with a surface active agent such as wax are available. But these methods cannot be used for optical products because of such problems as surface accuracy and durability. The anti-fogging technology developed by Canon is to absorb moisture with a thin membrane of moisture absorbing polymer formed on the glass surface. Since it maintains a stable state with almost no physical change, it is optimum for application to optical products. Although the amount of absorbed moisture is limited, moisture naturally evaporates. Through repeated moisture absorbing and transpiring, it maintains the anti-fogging effect for a long time.
