I bought this unit a couple of years ago after upgrading from an Etrex Vista monochrome model. I’m so impressed with the Vista range I’ve now upgraded to a top of the range Vista Hcx.

This one comes in it’s original packaging and includes all of the bits that were with it when I bought it such as the owners manual, USB lead, lanyard and spare back cover for use with the handlebar or suction mounts. I’ll even leave the batteries in it and will preload it with your chosen area of Garmin Metroguide Europe V9 or if you prefer it I can laod it with your preferred area of Garmin Mapsource UK Topo. The Vista C is the colour model without the SD card slot so you load the mapping directly to the unit which holds a huge area ( Several counties of mapping). I won’t go into too much detail on the spec as you can check it on the Garmin website but I use mine with Garmin Mapsource UK Topo, Metroguide Europe, US, Canada, South Africa and with Memory Map. I’ve taken this all round the world and there are so many free downloads on the net for various countries that I’ve yet to be let down. When loaded with UK Topo it even has footpaths, streams, tracks and contour lines on the screen. I use it for mountain biking quite a bit and it means that I’ve got the speed, distance, altitude, direction of travel and a multitude of other data fields available wherever I happen to be. I also use it as a conventional vehicle GPS whenever I’m driving abroad. I’ve even used it to find my tent after a few too many sherberts at Glastonbury it’s that accurate.

The bad points with this one are that the adhesive which holds the rubber band around the unit is losing some of it’s tack. It could quite easily be reglued if you felt that strongly about it or you could probably get Garmin to do the same. It doesn’t affect the operation of the unit at all but I thought that I had to mention it. There is also a small split on the same rubber band on the USB cover flap which is pretty unnoticeable. I’ve put a bit of tape over it but again it doesn’t affect the unit. It’s got a couple of marks on the casing but the screen is not marked at all. There is nothing wrong with the operation of the unit at all and I’m only selling it because I’ve got a new one.
