|
|
Firstly this ceramic bowl is not in great shape. It is chipped in a number of places and the glaze has crazing and scratches and it might once have had a lid. However it is an important example of Guinness advertising history from the 1950s. The bowl is decorated with the Guinness zoo characters - toucan, ostrich, seal, lion, pelican, kangaroo, bear (each with bottles or glasses of Guinness) and chasing them all, the zoo keeper. Produced by T.G Green at their Church Gresley pottery in England. I believe these pots were originally filled (with a Christmas pudding) and given to trade customers. Measures 8cms (3ins) tall, 12cms (4.75 ins) diameter across top and 9cms (3.5ins) diameter across base. |
