The finger hole are larger than the standard 1.8. #1 and #2 are the largest at 12.5mm. Chikusing instruments are essentially Jinashi style flutes that are specially made to play the Dokyoku Zen Honkyoku music of Watazumi. The bore has had my Spot Tune Method where select resonance spots are adjusted by removal and addition of Ji plaster to add flexibility and a wider dynamic range. This is a dense, medium heavy piece of bamboo. It's hefty. This flute was finished about 3 years ago and was offered but I took it off the market because liked it and used it in performances. It plays perfectly for those who understand long bass flutes. All the advanced fingerings work very well into the third octave Ha notes with the tone color and expressive dynamic range expected of this type of shakuhachi. It has presence, balance and a raspy, woody tone color. Now it's time to let it go. My instruments are made in the lineage the eccentric Watazumi, the Komuso Monk who brought the experience of playing the highly refined Zen Honkyokyu music back to it's origins by playing on the most organic yet functional shakuhachi.
