RECYCLED SILK PRODUCER

Our Recycled Silk Producing Project employs refugees from Tibet, who now live in Nepal

The workers are mainly women and their employment gives them opportunities for training and economic independence, away from their home country

The women learn new skills and are given flexible working arrangements to combine with childcare

The main product line is recycled silk gathered from old saris. The fibres are separated and then woven into the new items, sometimes in combination with wool, hemp and other fibres

§       Encouraging use of natural & organic materials and recycling to ensure low environmental impact

§       Payment of a fair price to enable production which is socially just and realistic

§       Promoting access of disadvantaged women to the workplace

§       Discouraging child labour through provision of crèche facilities
