Very Rare Red Bakelite GPO 232L.

This telephone dates from 1956/7. It is a beautiful rich deep red colour without any fading.

The marking on the handset are 164 - 57 and on the base plate 1/232L S56/2

The handset and line cords are GPO originals and although they are not frayed they are a little faded.

The cradle and plunger have been professionally repaired which is not noticable unless you look very very closely. There are some tiny fleabites on the base of the body where the body meets up with the base, the drawer surround has been repaired and so has the earcap. The repairs are very well done and barely noticable but mentioned for total accuracy. The block terminal has a hairline which has been stabilised.

Overall this telephone looks stunning.

A: Hi, The F on your 232 describes the dial type which should have figures only. The L on my 232 has letters too which means that it has an alpha-numeric dial. Kind Regards Angela
