A GOOD, WORLD WAR II,  MILITARY POCKET WATCH, MADE BY ELGIN, BRITISH  M.O.D. ISSUE

A very good example of a British M.O.D. issue Military Pocket Watch made by Elgin USA and dating from c1942. 

This watch is in excellent condition and good working order.  It has just been cleaned and serviced by a professional watchmaker.

Case:

The watch case is in very good condition, but does have surface scratches as can be expected.  It is base metal.  The case has the issue number on the rear "GS MK II, " below the British Ministry of Defence "Broad Arrow" and it also has the number 46522.  The rear cover screws off.  Inside is the case maker's name "Keystone" and also "Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co"  There is also the case serial number 46522.

Movement:

The good quality, Elgin, 9 Jewel movement is in excellent working order. It is signed "Elgin Natl Watch Co., USA" and "Nine Jewels".  It also has the serial number 41,772776.   The watch is stem wound and set.

Dial:

The black dial is in excellent condition (see photo).  It has the hours in Arabic numerals and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock.    It is signed by the maker "Elgin".  The crystal is in excellent condition.

 

The watch measures approximately 51 mm in diameter, measured across the case, excluding crown.

 

Summary:

 

An opportunity to purchase a very nice, Military Pocket Watch.  This watch would make an excellent addition to any collection.
