This auction is for a very lovely large and heavy antique solid silver buckle.

 

I think these are called 'nurses' buckles.

It is nicely pierced and embossed with cherubs after 'Heads of Angels' a painting by Joshua Reynolds.

Both pieces hallmarked for London 1897 makers mark is W.R.

It is a very heavy and thickly cast example, not one of these thin sheet silver made pieces.

Overall good original condition, it looks like one of the belt loops has been resoldered to the reverse as seen in the pics.

Measures as one piece - 14cm x 7cm.

Weight is 3.7oz.
