This auction is for a beautifully gold plated Mexican olympic coin. Firstly I would just like to mention that these photos really do not do this coin justice... it is a really nice coin!!! This coin weighs 22.5g, is 38mm in diameter, is 2mm thick and has a fineness of 720 with a pure silver content of 0.520 troy ounces. (72% silver, 28% copper) The coin is plated over and over again with 24ct (pure) gold to an amazing mirror finish. The coin itself is in uncirculated condition. The Mexican mint, La Casa de Moneda de Mexico, only produced these coins for circulation so this is the only way to make these coins truly stand out from your collection.

The obverse features an Aztec dancer in the middle of a dance. The left hand is raised and the right hand is holding a ball. The dancer, graceful and athletic, represents the idea of the olympics. In the background there is a geometric design. Encircling the dancer are the words JUEGOS DE LA XIX OLIMPIADA MEXICO 1968 with olympic rings at the bottom.

A fierce eagle dominates the reverse. He spreads his impressive wings whilst suffocating a snake. In a semi-circle above the eagle are the words: ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS 1968. To the left is the denomination: 25 pesos and to the right, the fineness: LEY 0.720. You can also see the mint mark which is an M with a small o above.
