GEORGIAN Solid Silver CRUET STAND Hallmarked 1814 NR
VERY LARGE - Gorgeous Piece - 25 troy oz. - London
This is a very nice GEORGIAN solid sterling silver mounted cruet or preserve stand that was made in London, England in 1814 by the illustrious Georgian silversmiths, Samuel Hennell and John Terrey at their Foster Lane workshops. It stands on four ornate feet and has a gorgeous patterned handle, a mahogany base, stunning gadrooned edging and eight spaces for cruet bottles. It is NOT engraved. It measures 9 1/8" wide by 7 1/8" deep and 9 1/8" high to the top of the handle. It weighs 764.1g - over 24 1/2 troy oz.
It is in very good condition for its age with NO dents, few dents, NO cracks or repairs - just the usual surface scratching and very minor seam separation but it does need a better clean than I have had time to give it. It is hallmarked SH over IT, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark), crowned leopard head, T, George III duty mark showing that it was hallmarked in London in 1814. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A lovely and VERY rare HUGE GEORGIAN addition to someone's table!! Postage will be 8.00GBP both within the UK and to international destinations.
Please note that the primary postage costs are for second class (or standard parcels service if the postage cost is over 6.00GBP) within the UK or surface mail to international destinations. First class post usually adds 50% to the quoted postage cost while airmail is typically double the cost of surface mail. If you want to know about the timescales and charges by Royal Mail then I suggest you look at http://www.royalmail.com. Please wait for my invoice with postage options that will be sent very soon after the auction finishes!
If you win more than one of my auctions, I am happy to combine packaging to reduce postage costs.
