GEORGIAN Silver LARGE COFFEE POT Hallmarked 1973 NR
Birmingham: John B Chatterley - 22 troy oz. - STUNNING
This is a stunning VINTAGE VERY LARGE solid sterling silver coffee pot which was made in Birmingham, England in 1973 by the illustrious silversmiths, John B Chatterley & Sons at their Newtown Road workshops. It has a fabulous early Georgian simple tapering shape, has a composition handle, a spire finial and is NOT engraved. It measures 9" high to the top of the finial, is 4" in diameter at the base by 7 5/8" long from handle to spout. It is VERY substantial - it weighs 675.1g - that is almost 21 3/4 troy oz. It is a LARGE size - it has a capacity of over 1 1/4 imperial pints.
It is in SUPERB condition for its age with less than the usual surface scratching and NO splits or repairs, and NO dents or distortion or repairs with NO dinks. The handle is very firm with no wear. The hinge has NO play and the lid has NO spring. It is hallmarked JBC over &S over Ld, anchor, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark), Y showing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1973. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. The lid is also hallmarked lion passant, Y.
