This is for a fabulous old Georgian wooden ladies jewellery or trinket box finished in vivid Lapis blue with lovely ornate gilded decoration to the lid. It is an extremely striking old box, the colour is completely original, it dates circa 1790-1810, and for its age, is in amazing condition... all of the gilding on the lid is intact still and all of the lining inside is still intact and relatively clean. The inside is lined with beautifully embossed leather or card to the base and in the lid with watermark silk with an ornate bead to the edge. The base of the box is a burnt red velvet and unbelievably it still has its original little retail sticker on the base that shows it was sold by 'White' of 330 long room bazaar in Soho Square in London. The box has all its original fittings, the hinges and clasp are all original right down to the original little blued steel screws It is a very very eye-catching old box and i think you will wait a very long time before you find anything like this so well preserved. It will fabulous on the right dressing table. It measures 195mm x 97mm and stands 53mm tall.
