This keyboard is a full-size keyboard that functions the same as a desktop computer keyboard. Many of the keys have been assigned alternate functions, including shortcut keys for Windows®, and function keys for specific system operations.
You can attach an external keyboard to the computer using a USB port. You do not need to shut down the computer to connect a USB keyboard. |

Description |
| A. System keys/Function keys |
Press these keys labeled F1 to F12 to perform actions in programs. For example, pressing F1 may open help. Each program uses different function keys for different purposes. See the program documentation to learn more about the function key actions.
System keys are unique to your notebook and can be used to perform specific tasks. The System keys are identified by the image on the key. Press a System key in combination with the Fn key to perform a specific action.
Note: The wireless network switch must be turned on for the wireless LAN and Bluetooth function keys to work (Fn+F2 for wireless and Fn+F6 for Bluetooth). If you have turned the wireless network switch on and then used a function key to disable one of the functions, the option selected remains until the wireless network switch is turned on and the function key is once again used to change the setting. For example; if you have turned on the wireless network switch to enable the wireless LAN and Bluetooth, and then used the Fn+F6 function to disable the just the Bluetooth option, even after turning the wireless switch off and then back on, the Fn+F6 function key must be used to enable the Bluetooth option again. |
| B. Navigation keys |
Press the navigation keys to move the cursor to the beginning of a line, to the end of a line, up the page, down the page, to the beginning of a document, or to the end of a document.
Press these keys in combination with the FN key to increase or decrease the volume or to turn off all sound. Press and hold the FN key, and then press the PgUp key to increase the volume. Press and hold the FN key, and then press the PgDn key to decrease the volume. Press and hold the FN key, and then press the End key to mute the volume. |

Press the Fn key in combination with a colored System key to perform a specific action. |
| D. Windows® key |
Press the Windows® key to open the Windows Start menu. This key can also be used in combination with other keys to open utilities. For example, press the Windows® key in combination with the F key to open the Search utility. Press the Windows® key in combination with the R key to open the Run utility. Press the Windows key in combination with the E key to open the Explorer utility. |

| F. ARROW keys |
Press the ARROW keys to move the cursor up, down, right, or left.
These keys in combination with the Fn key, control the screen brightness. Press and hold the FN key, and then press the UP arrow key to increase the brightness. To dim the display, press and hold the FN key, and then press the DOWN arrow key. |
| G. Numeric keypad |
When the numeric keypad is turned on, these keys can be used to type numbers. The default setting for the numeric keypad is On. Press NUM LOCK to turn the numeric keypad on or off. |

The microphone can be used for VoIP calls or creating audio recordings. When the Audio Recording button is clicked, a red light flashes to the right of the icon and an onscreen timer indicates the recording time. To stop recording, press the Audio Recording button again. |

The webcam can be used to add video and audio to many of the available Internet chat programs and allow others to see who they are communicating with when making Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls. In addition, by using the software included with the webcam, you can take pictures or create video clips.

|
This battery was shipped partially charged. Use the AC adapter right away to charge the battery. Allow three hours for the battery to fully charge.
Closely monitor the battery charge. When the battery charge gets low, change the battery or connect to AC power immediately to prevent losing any unsaved work.
If your notebook unexpectedly goes into Standby mode while you are using it but the battery charge is not low, you may need to recalibrate your battery. You should also recalibrate the battery periodically to maintain the accuracy of the battery gauge.
