1989 Squier Telecaster - Rossi StyleI bought this guitar about six years ago and have loved playing it. Sadly I have to raise some finances. I learned from the Telecaster forum (http://www.tdpri.com) that these Japanese & Korean Squier guitars were so well made that Fender USA were concerned that they would take away sales from the US models & changed the manufacture deliberately in order to distinguish the cheaper Squier range. Here is a quote from the forum about this range of Telecasters from the late 80's.... The neck is incredible, and the E and S serial late 80s and very early 90s Korean Squiers (with the silver 'Squier' logo) have a justified reputation. I personally (like many other players) find them miles better than most Mexican Fender necks. This guitar will easily hold its own against a Mexican Fender, and could easily be upgraded to something really special - may people actually seek out these S and E serial necks to build a custom guitar, fitting them to a The serial number is S991407 Made in Originally this was a mustard-y yellow colour, which I think at the time was called Blonde, anyway, I decided to do an overhaul & make it into a Fransi Rossi of Status Quo style Tele. You may say that Rossi's guitar has 3 pick ups & a different bridge. Fair enough, it does indeed today. In fact he has three Green telecasters and the back of the main guitar is not painted. (http://www.bogusquo.com/replicas_francis.htm) So this is NOT an accurate reproduction guitar, but for 90% of the gig going public it will look like Frame's tele. This is what I have & haven't done....
o Neck - 100% Genuine original Maple neck with famous skunk stripe. 18mm thick at the first fret & 20mm thick at the 12th fret. Genuine "Squier" logo neck plate o Fretboard - Rosewood with 21 medium frets. o Scale length Nut to 21st fret = 455mm. The top 10 frets have been lightly stoned to give a buzz free action. o Action at 17th (as per Fender set up guide) Fret Bottom E = 2.5mm top E = 1.8mm o Machine Heads = Original Squier tuners o Body = Laminated but I have converted it to a through body string arrangement to give extra sustain. The body has been lacquered to give the green finish then 8 coats of clear lacquer. It was my intention to age it more but the silk finish of the lacquer makes it looks quite nice. I guess if you want to go the extra mile and give it the full “relic” treatment you can do so with minimal effort & time. o Scratch plate - Brand new 3-ply white/black/white o 3 way switch - Brand new with new “Top Hat” style knob o Volume & tone pots - Brand new 250k “B type” & 250k “A type” respectively & a new capacitor. o Control panel - original o Jack socket & plate - original o Bridge - New 6 saddle through body style. o Pick-Up - Neck - original 1989 Squier o Pick-Up - Bridge - This guitar does not have a case with it but I have a very thick padded gig bag that you can have. It will be thoroughly wrapped & recorded postage & hence postage rates. If you wish to play it first, I am based in Stourbridge in the Please e-mail if you have any other questions. |
