"The house is wonderful and so quaint. Everything you could need is provided which makes it feel like home!
We would definitely recommend it to anyone. The area was very much like North Yorkshire where we come from. - Su Woodcock & Ian McHale Scarborough, North Yorkshire. (Visit - March 2009)
I just wanted to say your home in France is lovely and that you have done a great job with renovating the property. We found everything we needed and really enjoyed staying there. The weather, the area and accommodation were all great and we would like to visit the area again.
Thank you Louise May 2009
Ancient stone house in a small village in the Limousin region of France. It has a distinctive French feel
Full of character, large stone fireplace, beamed ceilings and mainly stone and wooden floors.
This region sits above the Dordogne and is heavily wooded and rural..
The area is known as the Lake District of France due to it's abundance of Lakes and the two large Lakes St Pardoux which is only approx 25 minutes away from the house and the larger Lake Vassiviere. We have just purchased a private 2.5 acre well stocked lake within a 14 acre plot near Arnac la Poste with woodland which will be available exclusively to guests at the house from beginning of November 2009.It is between 15-20 minutes drive from the house. We plan to have a timber lodge built overlooking the lake for the 2010 spring and summer seasons. You can see it on photographs

Oradour sur Glane site of the infamous whole village massacare in 1944 is 45 minutes away and a very moving place to visit. There is a visitors centre which has a small charge to visit but village of martyrs is free to enter
There are themed parks and farms for younger children particularly near Poitiers which is approx 1 hour away
Directly out of the house, turn left into a woodland walk and in 5 minutes you are beside the lake and church of tiny Villefavard.
Although there are only a handful of houses it has 2 churches and an international music school with wonderful concerts often free in summer and are advertised on the village noticeboard a few steps from the house.
The village has no shop although local van delivers bread and other basics, nearest shopping is 5 minutes away in Chateauponsac which has most facilities including restaurants and a small museum
Getting there Ryanair have flights to Limoges airport which is 40 mins drive from house.
230 miles drive south from Paris
There have been several enquiries about suitability for young children and disabled access, this is a very old unusual house with outbuildings, some stone floors and lounge is on first floor.Toys, paddling pool, pushchair and travel cot are available (no bedding for travel cot).We have taken our little girl since she was very small but there are several stairs and potential bidders need to consider this. The garden is enclosed and there is another small area of garden at the back not shown.
I can organise a welcome pack if required.
Please contact me regarding dates required before bidding to confirm availability.
