Luci e Trasparenze: Fontana Arte 1930 -
1950 Galleria Babuino Novocento, Rome, 2006. Edited by Massimo d'Alessandro and Laura Falconi. 96 pages with over 50 colour illustrations of works, both in large format and extremely useful index form at the rear. Large format softcover (approx 28 cm x 24 cm) Text in Italian and English. Condition: As new with only minimal signs of use. The sumptuous catalogue for an exhibition dedicated to Fontana Arte in Rome last year. It features a great many period objects by Pietro Chiesa and Max Ingrand among others. Along with Gio Ponti, Chiesa was artistic co-director of Fontana Arte from 1933. The catalogue highlights landmark pieces from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s in full page colour plates for the majority of the book. Each work is then listed again, with accompanying text in English and Italian, in an illustrated index at the rear. The commentary details the designer, year of production and full dimensions, as well as bibliographic references. A fabulous resource for collectors and enthusiasts of - and dealers in - the highest quality Twentieth Century Italian design. It is now an extremely uncommon book; don't miss this opportunity.
