A very rare opportunity to buy a simply fantastic 1967 ‘Guy Rogers’ Manhattan Sofa/Sofabed with matching His & Hers reclining armchairs.

A superb set, handmade in Speke, Liverpool and designed by Eric Pamphilon (Director of Design at Guy Rogers) and free lance designer George Feyer, showcasing their work with some mesmerising touches of design brilliance, together they produced some amazing furniture  alongside  Harold  Dykes & family (owners of ‘Guy Rogers’) who retailed almost exclusively through ‘Heals’ of London.

All crafted with a mixture of solid Teak & Afromosia with rich, deep conker colours…This set is an absolute beauty!! The Frame is virtually as new, with a few small age related dents, we think this simply adds to the character and history of this piece.

Fully & professionally, re-upholstered by ourselves using all new R400 reflex foam over new elasticated webbing and finished in this super cool 100% pure wool, hand woven and tumbled to give the most amazing texture…just like fuzzy felt! This fabric fully complies to UK Fire Regs……A simple stylish palate of Granite Grey’s with flecks of Dove Grey & Black, samples are available upon request……So comfortable to sit on and the fabric feels great to the touch...!

A superb 4 seater sofa/double bed settee, perfect for those impromptu overnight guests especially over Christmas when the mulled wine is flowing! Just simply press the foot operated pedal at the back of the bed and hey presto a bed (6ft x 4ft).  Quality Brass fittings throughout, possibly the best bed on any of the sofa beds we’ve had.

To complete the set we have the ‘His & Hers’ (one has a higher back) armchairs, exhibiting wonderful styling and featuring a very simplistic 3 position recliner mechanism, ideal for those winter afternoon snooze’s, so comfortable to sit in the proportions of these chairs are just perfect!

Recently purchased from the original owner who bought it new in 1967, the condition of this suite is a credit to the owner who obviously looked after it very well over the 40+ years…we’d really like it to be kept together

Overall a fantastic set in amazing ‘as new’ condition that would make a great investment for any serious 60’s modernist furniture collector.

The sofa is very, very heavy….it would be possible for me to dismantle into several smaller parts for access to top floor flats/basements or places with limited access, however this is very time consuming and we would have to charge and additional £40 to cover the time needed.
