If you have any doubt about your selection of LCD at the time of placing the order, we suggest that you email us the size, make, model and the part number written on the label pasted at the back of the screen. If, by mistake, you order the wrong product, you can exchange it at an additional cost of shipping charges and listing fee. If you receive a screen which is not compatible to the one you placed an order for, you have the liberty to call for a replacement within 7 days from the date of receipt by requesting an RMA number.( ITEM NO ) The screen should be returned in the original condition and any scratches on the screen surface may result in a fee of £25. Warranty, is void if the original serial numbers / labels are removed or do not match with those of the Item originally shipped.

Simple & easy. Do I need a new laptop LCD screen if I have lines on my screen?
It is possible that you need a new laptop LCD screen. The presence of lines could indicate a problem with the screen, the video cable or the video card.

Are some laptop LCD screens compatible with other LCD screens?
Yes. Laptop LCD screens may be compatible with other laptop LCD screens. Moreover, laptop makers like Dell, HP Compaq, IBM, Toshiba and Sony may source more than one LCD screen (as distinguished by the LCD screen's part number) even from different brand LCD screen manufacturers to install in the same laptop model. There are many variables to take into consideration like various physical constraints, electronic signalling characteristics and power issues.

Do I need a new laptop LCD screen if my LCD screen is dim?
You may or may not need a new LCD screen if the LCD screen is dim. If your LCD screen is dim it may be as a result of either 1) a faulty backlight or 2) a faulty inverter. The backlight is basically the light bulb in the laptop LCD screen which as one would suspect has an average useful life. The inverter, though, is a separate piece from the LCD screen. The inverter essentially 1) takes the DC power which the laptop runs off of and converts it into AC power and 2) steps-up the voltage to light up the cold cathode fluorescent backlight.
We have found that when a laptop LCD screen is dim the majority of the time it is a result of a faulty inverter (especially for HP laptop components). Unfortunately, the best way to determine which the cause of the dim screen is is through process of elimination by trying either a new LCD screen or a new inverter and seeing which solves the problem. We highly recommend you purchase an inverter first as inverters are less expensive than LCD screens. Notebookspares does not carry inverters; however, we would be more than happy to refer you somewhere.

What is a compatible laptop screen?
Laptop manufacturers may use more than one different type of screen in the same laptop model and when shopping for a laptop LCD screen, the screen's manufacturer is not important. On top of that, LCD screen manufacturers release newer models every 4-6 months and your original screen may be outdated and not available any longer. There are newer screen models on the market and they will have better electrical and optical parameters, which you can check when comparing screen data sheets. Our research is based on our hands-on experience. At our laptop repair shops we study compatibility to ensure that screens we offer are the exact replacements of our customer's laptop models or fully compatible equivalent types. Besides, selling a compatible screen model allows us to offer you a better deal.

I have a Matte screen – Can I use a gloss instead of that?
Glossy and matte screens are absolutely interchangeable and it's just the type of the screen surface.
Traditionally, laptop screens have had a matte anti-glare finish to scatter reflected light. This has the side effect of scattering the light from the display, increasing blur and reducing contrast ratio, colour intensity, and viewing angle.
Glossy screens use an optical coating to reduce the amount of external light reflecting from the surface without affecting light emanating from the screen.
