FROM THE FOREST I CAME: the story of Gypsy Rodney Snith MBE
by David Lazell
First edition published by Corcordia Press, 1970
Paperback, 11 x 18 cm, 190 pages, plus 8 inset sides of black & white photographs
ISBN 0-570-00000-9
The spine is straight and uncreased with no more slight abrasions to the top and bottom edges
The rest of the cover is in a similar good state, with only minor marks or handling wear.
There are some black ink marks along the bottom of the closed pages but these are only superficial and do not show on the pages themselves.
On the flysheet there is the handwritten signature of a previous owner with the request to "please return as soon as possible" - a rather forelorn hope for a 38-year-old book, I fear!
The rest of the inside of the book is unmarked. There is little ageing of the paper and the contents remain in generally very good, clean condition throughout.
COVER NOTES
"Gipsy Rodney Smith never went to school for a day in his life - yet he influenced the lives of tens of millions of people throughout the world by his preaching. Young and old, rich and poor, nobility and working man regarded him as their friend.
David Lloyd George said of him: ' Should I ever be lost in the wilds of Western America or in the Australian Bush, where they've never heard of British politicians, and I didn't know what to do - I would find the nearest squatter's or miner's hut, knock at the door, and say: I'm an old friend of Gipsy Smith!'"
