FRISKY ANIMALS #48, 1951, Star Publications. Classic L.B. Cole cover art. Cosmo Cat story. Note: I am selling many CLASSIC GOLDEN-AGE comics this week, most starting at 99 CENTS. Auctions end Sunday night, November 8. Please see my other listings -- you might find something else you like. ABOUT THIS COMIC: This comic from Star Publications contains a classic L.B. Cole cover, with winter sled / snowman / imminent-disaster scene. Stories include Cosmo Cat, Percy, and Hedy Hippo, Ivan the Terrible, and a story about America's prehistoric dinosaurs. (Note: In spite of the high issue number, this is actually the 5th issue of this title.) POSITIVES: ORIGINAL AND COMPLETE. Staples are snug to cover and top inside page. Flat and clean cover displays attractively. Inside pages very good. NEGATIVES: 1/4" split lower spine. Lower staple unattached from center page (top staple holds firm). Very light creasing/soiling. Other general wear associated with this grade. I have described the comic to the best of my ability. I always try to page completely through each comic and list all relevant flaws. I am happy to provide more details, so please feel free to ask questions if you have additional concerns about condition. COMIC VALUE: A recent Overstreet guidebook values this comic at $42 in VG condition. (PLEASE CONSIDER BIDDING ON MULTIPLE ITEMS, AS I WILL COMBINE CHARGES TO GIVE BUYERS THE BEST POSSIBLE DEAL ON SHIPPING.) • Shipping policy: I try to charge a fair rate based on materials and average cost for an item's size/weight. I WILL GLADLY COMBINE SHIPPING ON MULTIPLE ITEMS. Shipping costs/methods are negotiable based on your preferences. Please allow a few days lead time, since I can only get to the post office once or twice a week. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS are welcome, but keep in mind that like many others on eBay, I will not declare a false item value on a form. • Packaging policy: Items will be packaged carefully. Comics or magazines are usually put in plastic with a backing, then sandwiched between thick cardboard so the spine will not be bent in transit. I have never had any complaints about packaging. Extra padding and protection is used for rare/expensive items. • Condition policy: As a frequent eBay buyer, nothing is more irksome than getting a "surprise" -- an item in condition notably worse than described. I will never knowingly misrepresent an item's condition. My pet peeves for comics/magazines are split spines and detached centerfolds, so if an item has these flaws it will be described in the listing. If an item has major cut-outs, tears or other flaws, it will be prominently mentioned, not buried in the description. I aim to be a seller who can be trusted. • Returns policy: I don't have a strict policy, but I will allow returns for valid reasons. However, like most sellers I do not wish to spend extra time and fees having to take back items for frivolous reasons, so I won't agree to returns without justification. Please be sure to read the description carefully and do your part to make the transaction go smoothly. ![]() |
