FRENCH ART DECO VERY RARE 30'S ST. GOBAIN RADIATOR

Description:

DESCRIPTION

Offered for auction  is a  very rare Art Deco Machine Age 1937 French icon sculpture designed by Rene Coulon for Saint Gobain. Famously known as the Saint Gobain Radiator or "Radiaver"...... Coulon designed this glass radiator in 1937 for the Industrial Expo in Paris. A functional electric radiator became high demand heating unit among the well to do for it's designer sculptural form. Today this is a highly collectable piece used mostly as a sculpture in the home. In excellent condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. A fabulous example of the Industrial Age.

The base is a beautiful glass block design and the plates have gold stripes which were actually the heat conductors. The plug has been removed as the electrical components are far from code for todays standards and the true value of the piece today resides in it's sculptural form. There are 2 secure wrought iron rings on top for hanging the piece that were part of the original design.

These rare sculptures of the Industrial Age sell for a few thousand at high end auctions.. we are offering at a minimal price.

Measures approx 20"T X 16"W
