1950's POODLE

Moulin Rouge, Paris connection

A rare and unusual 1950's Poodle manufactured by E. Brain and Co., Foley China Works, Fenton, Staffordshire the backstamp would date the Poodle to Circa 1948.

E. Brain & Co Ltd were originally called Robinson & Son (1881 - 1903).   In 1963 E. Brain & Co Ltd bought out the classic name of Coalport and continued under that name until being bought out by the Wedgwood Group in 1967.

The design and pattern is very Picasso in style,  there is a can can dancer, red windmill,  Eiffel Tower and stars,  perhaps made as a souvenier as the Moulin Rouge, Paris has a red windmill on its roof and can can dancers?

The Poodle measured 7" (18cm) high by 4.5" (11.5cm) measured at its widest point.   Offered in good undamaged condition with no chips, cracks, discolouration or restoration.

A rare opportunity to purchase a very rare item.
