FM Radio Station digital duplexStudio Transmitter Link (STL)This is a professional grade STL that has been in use over a 4 mile hop for a couple of years comprising of
2 x Picom Airlink 256s (2.4ghz X21 radio link) 1 x spare Picom Airlink 256s (2.4ghz X21 radio link)
2 x Musicam Prima LT’s ver 1.04 software with X21 cards Prima LT Manuals,PSU’s and X21 leads included Antennas and RF cable not included. The audio quality is superb as you would expect from the musicam units (currently configured MPEGL2 48khz/256k) and is fully duplex so you can use them to send the audio from your studios to the transmitter site and then collect the audio from your OB receiver and send it back to the studio. The coding delay is low as well, at 72ms (actual field measurement) including the PICOMS which means you should be able to monitor off air live with this setup. I can supply a demo wav with the coding delay so you can hear for yourself, just drop me an email. There is also an RS232 Aux channel which could be used to tweak your processor or control RDS although we never used that feature.
The PICOMS use common available external switch mode PSU's and have been opened up for the Capacitors to be replaced as this is apparently a common failure on these units.
The reason for sale, is that the Picoms use 2.4ghz band, the same as for Wi-FI, the TX site in use was an education institution and they decided to flood their building with 2.4 ghz wifi for student use, which caused interference to the link. At this frequency the radio link is only of use, if your TX site doesn’t have wifi, and your studio wifi is well away from the STL tx. (the studio does have wifi but is 5 floors below the STL antenna, so did not cause problems only the tx end had the issues)
The Prima LTs have X21 cards in them so cannot be hooked up to ISDN as is, but you can purchase ISDN cards and replace the X21 cards and use these units for Voiceovers etc via ISDN. You could also purchase this kit, and then get a leased line (256k kilostream) from BT, and connect the units that way. Apparently you can also buy radio modems running at a different frequency to 2.4ghz, replace the picoms and implement the X21 side that way. The system was removed in working order and I have it on the bench running as well, guaranteed not DOA more photos/info available on request. Cosmetic wise, the units are in OK condition except for usual scratches and marks where they have been put in and removed from the racks, if you want more detail regarding cosmetic condition then please email me and I'll provide more pics. Ideally this item is for collection, but if you would like it couriered please email me with your address and I'll get costs to deliver it to you. |
