HIBISCUS TRIONUM LUYONA

This unusual plant bears strikingly clear 2" creamy-white flowers with a deep purple center. Blooms are carried in huge numbers over the entire plant for all summer and well into autumn. Individual flowers are short lived but numerous new flowers come into bloom each day, hence the name "Flower-of-an-Hour". Treat as a tender perennial, grows to 2 feet tall.

Prior to sowing, seeds should be scarified (simply nick the seed coat or rub with sand paper) and soaked in warm water for 24-48 hours. Seeds should then be sown 1/8th inch deep at 75-80F. Often seeds will germinate in just a few days but may take upto 30 days, especially if soil temperature is not high. Prick out seedlings into individual pots when they are large enough to handle, plant outside in well drained soil in full sun-they grow poorly in shade. After planting, these are virtually maintenance free
