"FERRANTI" 1930's MAINS ELECTRIC SCHOOL CLOCK.

MANUFACTURED IN ENGLAND IN THE PRE-WAR PERIOD.

IN FULL WORKING CONDITION- APPEARS TO KEEP GOOD TIME. (MECHANISM IS STARTED BY PULLING & RELEASING KNOB ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RIM. THIS KNOB ALSO IS USED FOR ADJUSTING THE TIME.)

THE STEEL CASE WAS ORIGINALLY PAINTED, BUT HAS NOW BEEN STRIPPED BACK TO BARE METAL & POLISHED TO PRODUCE A "DISTRESSED LOOK" (SEE PICTURES). IT HAS BEEN REWIRED WITH A MODERN 2-CORE FLEX BUT I WOULD ADVISE FITTING A 3-CORE WITH AN EARTH.

DIAMETER MEASURES 36cm.

THIS STUNNING CLOCK WAS REMOVED FROM A SCHOOL IN EAST LONDON ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO DURING MODERNISATION. IT WILL NOW MAKE A FABULOUS FOCAL POINT IN AN OFFICE, WORKSHOP, OR ANY MODERNIST, ART DECO OR RETRO INTERIOR.
