CAT NO. DVD 2319 (PN)
Chelsea take on Don Revie's Leeds in the 1970 cup final held at the
famous Wembley stadium. On a sand covered Wembley pitch, both sides
produced a game oozing with bright attacking football. Jack Charlton
headed Leeds in front after a defensive mix up however Leeds returned
the favour and Peter Houseman duely levelled the scores. Leeds looked
to have won the game when Mick Jones drilled in an 84th minute goal,
however Chelsea were not finished yet. Their resilience and spirit was
rewarded only minutes from time as Ian Hutchinson headed a fine
equaliser. Extra time failed to find a winner so off to Old Trafford
they went. In a physical encounter Leeds once again took the lead
through the first half boot of Jones. The gane ebbed and flowed and
Chelsea had to wait until the 78th minute to conjure a goal ; Peter
Osgood rising well to head home. The game again went in to extra time,
but David Webb upset the pattern of the final when he forced the ball
over the line from an Ian Hutchinson long throw. It was the first time
Chelsea had been in the lead during both matches - and that was the way
it stayed. Relive it all over again in this specially produced
programme featuring extended highlights of the first match and the full
120 minutes from the Old Trafford replay.
