External disk enclosures have always been a convenient way for PC users to add extra storage to a computer but these newly designed docking stations take it to a whole new level of convenience and flexability - installing a new disk is as easy as plugging it in. You can use both 3.5" desktop drives and 2.5" sata (Laptop) drives . An advantage to having the disk drive open to the air is no more cooling problems. Overheating disks have always plagued the external enclosure - either using a noisy fan or an expensive heavy heatsink. With no moving parts simplicity is the docking stations strength!
eSata allows your computer direct access to the Sata disk drive without any bottleneck (caused by usb/firewire "Bridging" chips.) The disk drive will perform exactly the same as a Sata disk installed inside your PC case (almost 3 times the speed of USB2.) The unit has a high quality feel and we are pleased to see a heavy duty 2amp power adaptor supplied with this product so using power hungry 1TB disks is not a problem.




A Desktop eSata mounting kit is included in the retail box. Most new motherboards now feature an external eSata port - set to become the new standard in external connectivity . However if you are using an older motherboard (with internal sata ports.) you can install this mounting plate and start enjoying the speed of eSata NOW - the eSata cable supplied with this product meets the standard eSata specification by using a heavy duty connector designed for external use. It's similar to the regular SATA connector, but with reinforcements in both the male and female sides. It's harder to unplug and can withstand a cable being yanked or wiggled.
