This cabinet is a lovely piece with an attractive light finish and beautiful grain patterns found in Elm.
It is in exceptional condition for a piece of this type and age. This is a vintage piece. It is a good colour- these pieces are often quite "orange" in colour as the varnish darkens with age, but this piece has a lovely paler colour.
The only thing I would point out, is a ding to the l.h inner edge of the side, next to the wide drawer at the bottom (Pic 6). That aside, the condition is lovely.
It offers practicality in a classic design. The item is adaptable to a variety of uses.
These cabinets were described in the original Ercol catalogues as serving cabinets. They offer plenty of storage, and can be used as a small sideboard with a pull down flap which is described by Ercol as suitable for carving on. They also make great cocktail cabinets, and many people use them as a writing bureau, as the pull down flap gives a great writing area.
The cabinet is made to Ercol's usual high standards in solid English elm. Internally, it is clean and fresh. The handles, hinge, and opening mechanism, are all in very good order.
Dimensions in inches: 32.5w x 42h x 18d
