Disk Two Apollo 14 11m 43s Apollo 15 27m 45s Apollo 16 28m 01s Apollo 17 28m 24s About these DVDs: These public domain NASA films have been converted to DVD format. These DVDs reflect the actual quality of the original NASA film footage, which is by no means perfect in places (eg, occasional screen wobble, some grainy film footage, etc). So, aside from minor compression artifacts, the quality of these DVDs approaches those films obtainable directly from NASA. Until NASA re-issues a remastered set (and this does not appear likely in the near future) we have to settle for the quality of these films - having said this, they give a real flavour of the Apollo era, and any space fan will find them thoroughly enjoyable to watch! The music and commentary is something else! About the Apollo program... The Apollo Program began before the first American was launched into space. In July 1960, NASA announced that a program to fly Astronauts around the Moon would follow the planned Mercury program. With President Kennedy’s famous speech on 25 May 1961, the focus on the Apollo missions shifted to a lunar landing and came into sharper focus with the goal of achieving this before the decade’s end. Many people feel that the Apollo program stands as mankind’s greatest technological achievement. In all, six missions landed on the Moon’s surface, and three others orbited the Moon without landing, including the ill-fated Apollo 13. Twelve men in all walked on the Moon before Apollo was done. The last three missions featured the Lunar Rover, which permitted the astronauts to drive about and explore various terrains too rough for the LM to attempt to land upon.

Until the NASA originals are digitally remastered, viewers will find that in places the movies may appear a litte fuzzy or washed out. Viewers should be aware that this is not a reflection of the quality of these DVDs, rather a reflection of the quality of the original movie archive footage.
