Microscope Slide: Enock, "Brilliant Eyes of Jumping Spider" A classic Enock slide, a deep cell preparation mounted on a dark purple glass slide. The labels read "Fredc. Enock Preparer, Brilliant Eyes of Jumping Spider", "Opaque for Binocular 2 inch to 1 inch objective", "Frederic Enock, 30 Russell Road, Seven Sisters Road, Holloway, N. London" and the genus and species of the creature, "Salticus tardigradus". The fluid mountant has a bubble in it and there is some discolouration where this touches the cover slip (possibly a fungal deposit?) which is arrowed in my first photo. This has not affected the subject which is as frightening as ever, at least to an arachnophobe (last photo). The second photo shows the slide held up to the light to reveal the colour of the glass slide. Enock's address dates the slide to the early 1880s. | | | | POSTAGE Postage to United Kingdom addresses £1 Postage Outside the United Kingdom $5
