English Fusee Convex Dial Clock - Unrestored
Circa 1830 / 1840
Dial Signed D Edwards London.
This 12” dial clock has the original background with perhaps some of the characters touched up.
The hands are of a moon design in the correct style for 1840 as shown on page 123 in Ronald Rose’s book “English Dial Clocks”. The tip of the minute hand is missing. The narrow mahogany surround is approx 15”. The convex original convex glass is plastered into a cast brass bezel of convex design. The original lock is still in situ.
The case is missing the bottom door and mouldings from the side door.
The thick veneer is typical of early 18th century case work. The original cast brass hangar is still in place. The movement is also typical of 1830 / 40 with shaped plates and knopped pillars. The clock also comes with, what I believe is, the original pendulum.
I am more than happy to provide any extra photographs you may require. Just ask.
A nice straightforward English Dial clock which, once restored, will figure very elegantly on the wall.
I would prefer the winning bidder to pick up the clock or perhaps we can meet somewhere halfway. But I can post worldwide if required (please contact me for estimate of shipping cost)
