English Country Rustic Carved Oak Smoker's Cabinet

Description:
This is a splendid monogrammed original antique solid oak smoker's cabinet on stand.  The cabinet stands on a shaped bracket foot stile plinth rising over which are two beautiful fielded panelled doors and two drawers over, complete with a working lock and key.  Behind the door is a single fitted shelf with original handles fitted to both the door and drawers with solid beech or cedar linings with decorative egg and dart mouldings below the solid oak top.  Rising over this is the lovely monogrammed smoker's cabinet, complete with working lock and key and original handle, with very decorative carvings to both sides in a half shields with decorative scrollwork set in fielded panels bearing the initials "R" and "H", united by a solid oak top and raised back.  There are two fitted drawers with a very unusual locking catch mechanism to both the lower and upper parts of the cabinet.  The drawers have solid oak linings in the smoker's section.  A classic piece of its time.

The cabinet dates circa 1900.

Condition:
The cabinet is in good condition for its age.  The top surface has been re-finished otherwise in fine original condition.  Originally the cabinet would have been fitted with a small shelf, this having been removed to allow for taller items to fit.
