An enamel bus stop 'e' plate for '280A Mon.-Sat. Special Journeys' in black lettering on a white background. It is in excellent condition.
Route 280A was introduced as a one-man operated route in October 1976, replacing the 80A. It ran on Mondays to Saturdays between Tooting Broadway and Walton-on-the-Hill via Mitcham, St. Helier, Sutton, Belmont, Banstead, Burgh Heath and Tadworth. In 1979 it was diverted in Banstead via Sutton Lane and Banstead High Street, and also diverted in Tadworth via Merland Rise. The route was withdrawn in 1982 when services in Surrey were extensively pruned, and replaced by a London Country service. It was therefore a rather short-lived route. Please see my other auctions for other items, and more 'e' plates over the coming weeks, as I have acquired a small collection of plates to dispose of. Thanks for looking. I am a keen collector of 'e' plates and will pay the highest prices for any that you can find that I do not already have in my collection. IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE READ THIS EBAY HAVE NOW DECIDED TO SEND AUTOMATIC INVOICES AT THE END OF EACH PURCHASE. IF YOU WANT TO BID ON MORE ITEMS AND WANT COMBINED POSTAGE - DO NOT PAY THE AUTOMATIC EBAY INVOICE, AND CERTAINLY DO NOT PAY BY PAYPAL. I PREFER PAYMENT BY CHEQUE PLEASE. IF YOU PAY BY PAYPAL I WILL BE UNABLE TO COMBINE PURCHASES AND POSTAGE FOR ANY SUBSEQUENT PURCHASES. IF YOU ARE UNCLEAR PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE PAYING. |
